an iphone wedding recap: the ceremony

Friday, April 15, 2016

Hey y'all! Spring has sprung in Kentucky and I couldn't be happier! I finally had a day off today and thought I'd do another wedding recap (because I MISS blogging SO much). SO today is ceremony photos from my friends!

So the week before the wedding we had been monitoring the weather VERY closely. While planning I knew that I wanted my girls to wear nude shoes but because we knew it was going to rain I told them to bring shoes they wouldn't mind getting wet/dirty. Day of we all ended up wearing rain boots/boots/chucks which I ended up loving because it showcased our personal styles.

Showing off our boots!

The ceremony was perfect. Abe cried. I cried. Our guests cried. Afterward everyone told me that they loved our ceremony because it was so genuine. We were all so in the moment. Total perfection.

Some of the smaller details:

  • I walked down the aisle to Somewhere Over the Rainbow and we walked out to All You Need is Love.
  • We had two poems read during the ceremony. Sonnet XVII from Pablo Neruda's 100 Love Sonnets and Married Love by Kuan Tao-Sheng. Look them up, they're beautiful.
  • While Abe was saying his vows he got so choked up that his groomsman on the end took out his hankie and passed it up the line of groomsmen. It was adorable...and you can see the hankie handoff in our wedding video.

Next time I'll be back with a reception recap!

Influenster and Marc Jacobs

Thursday, February 4, 2016

In December I was chosen by Influenster to test out the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir mascara. I was so excited to get the mascara in the mail because:

1. I LOVE mascara. Its one of my favorite beauty products and I love trying out new formulas.
2. I've never had any Marc Jacobs makeup and I really like testing out high end makeup to see if the additional cost and hype is worth it.

When I first opened this mascara I was so impressed with the packaging. It's beautiful! This mascara is supposed to be ultra volumizing and the huge brush definitely adds volume to my lashes!

(oh hey there Olive)

I've been testing out this mascara for several weeks now and I've decided that I do like this mascara. My only drawback is that after wearing it for a day, I notice that little bits of the mascara tend to flake off. I have very sensitive eyes the flaking makes them itch like crazy. I'm not sure if I'm putting on too many layers of mascara which causes it to flake off or if it's just the formula. All in all I probably won't go to Sephora to buy this mascara (because I have other high end mascaras that I like WAY better) but I was so happy that I got a chance to try out Velvet Noir!

**I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
