An Exciting Weekend!

Monday, March 30, 2015

Hey y'all! This past weekend was so fun and exciting!

On Saturday I headed home for a bridal shower for my sweet cousin Stephanie. She and her fiancĂ© are getting married in May and I couldn't be more excited for her!

Later that night I came back to Louisville to go to what we thought was an art show for my cousin Erin. What we didn't know was that her boyfriend, Andy, was going to propose. We actually weren't going to go to said "art show" because our Cats were playing in the Elite Eight. Luckily my mom called me two hours before the proposal to tell us that thats what actually was happening. We quickly got ready and took an Uber downtown.

Rush girls are getting married!! (I had to beg her for this picture haha)

He set up a beautiful proposal on a roof downtown (under a tent with twinkle lights everywhere!). We weren't there for the actual proposal, but we were around immediately after she said yes! We popped champagne, had cupcakes, and danced the night away.

Erin and Andy's adorable dog Wallace was also in attendance!

I'm so excited for the happy couple and already told Erin I'd bring my collection of wedding magazines over to her apartment soon :)

7 Years

Friday, March 27, 2015

This past Monday (March 23rd) Abe and I celebrated our 7 year dating anniversary! It's hard to believe that we met and started dating SEVEN whole years ago!

Here's a throwback to the first photo we ever took together! We were headed to a Phi Mu Semi Formal (the theme was Tacky Prom).

For our anniversary, Abe took me to a really cool restaurant called Game. They offer lots of different kinds of interesting meat! I had a kangaroo burger and Abe had a wild boar burger (YUM).

During dinner we talked about how exciting the next few months will be for us and how strange (but exciting) it'll be to have a whole new anniversary to celebrate next year!

Cheers to seven years and a lifetime more!

Sweating For The Wedding

Monday, March 16, 2015

Since about October (pre engagement) I've been going to the gym to work on getting back into shape. From middle school to my senior year in college I was a distance runner. In the fall I ran 5ks with the cross country team and in the spring I'd switch to 800 M and 1600 M races on the track. I was always in awesome shape growing up but after I graduated from Transy I slacked off. Now that I have a wedding about 6 and a half months from now I've kicked up the training a notch.

I've slowly been increasing my mileage and last week I was able to finally run 3 consecutive miles without stopping. The weather has been improving here in Kentucky and Abe and I have been able to run outside. Luckily we have an awesome (and hilly) park within half a mile of our house!

In addition to running, I've been going to the YMCA and lifting weights. Usually my week looks something like this:

Monday: RUN 3 Miles and LIFT Arms

Wednesday: RUN 3 Miles and LIFT Legs

Friday: RUN 3 Miles and LIFT Back/Abs

If I'm feeling particularly excited about working out I'll add in some planks after I run and before I stretch.

So from now until October I'll be continuing my workout plan!

Influenster and Neutrogena

Thursday, March 12, 2015

I'm a member of Influenster and occasionally receive free samples of products to test and review. This past month I got a package containing the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. This product is meant to "quench dry skin and keep it looking smooth, supple and hydrated day after day" according to Neutrogena's website.

It has a water based formula and absorbs quickly into the skin. I've been using this for a few weeks and have really enjoyed it thus far. I put it on my face after cleansing my skin in the evening (especially after using my Clarisonic). It has a thick consistency and reminds me of the Clinique Moisture Surge (but at a much better price point).

Overall I give this product two thumbs up. I love the smell and it has really hydrated my dry winter skin!

**I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.

7 Months Left!

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

Hi all! After a monster snow storm last week, it appears that spring may have arrived here in the bluegrass state (thank goodness).

In wedding planning news, we're under seven months to go!

Here are the to-dos:

Find a florist and book one*
Finalize our guest list*
Find band/DJ and book one*
Order Save the Dates and send them*
Choose bridesmaids dresses*
Plan rehearsal dinner

(* = These are all from last month, oops)

Priorities this month include finding a florist and DJ and ordering Save the Dates.

Thinking Warm Thoughts...

Wednesday, March 4, 2015

It's been cold, windy, and snowy in Kentucky lately. Warm soup, hot coffee, and lots of blankets are necessary. When we aren't working, Abe, Olive and I are curled up on the couch watching The Americans and Friends re-runs. Basically we have become:

All of the freezing temps have prompted us to start looking at honeymoon destinations. As I mentioned previously we are currently looking at the Caribbean, specifically Belize. We have been looking at all inclusive resorts on the coast or on one of the many Cay's that are in Belize. Our most favorite thus far has been Coco Plum Cay. It's located off the coast near Dangriga (you have to take a plane from Belize City to Dangriga then take a boat 30 minutes to the island). It's all inclusive, meaning the cost includes food, activities (we would get 3 snorkeling trips and 2 mainland trips) and all local alcohol (as Abe said, "They will rue the day they decided to give us unlimited alcohol").

When we first contacted Coco Plum they had availability, but that was in December and we weren't quite ready to book anything. When I contacted them again earlier this month they said that they were no longer available the week after our wedding. I was so so upset. Not only is the price right with this place, the scenery is also jaw dropping-ly beautiful. We scoured the internet for other options, but nothing seemed as good as Coco Plum. I asked if they had cancelations often and was told that sadly someone had booked the entire island for the week (UM WHAT?!).

Earlier this week we found out that the person had canceled and that they now had and opening for us! Abe and I could not be more happy. We will be leaving the Monday after our wedding (that way we can rest and get organized on Sunday). Now we just have to patiently wait for about seven more months!

Check out Coco Plum's website for more beautiful photos of the island!

Engagement Photos!

Monday, March 2, 2015

On February 7 Abe and I traveled to Lexington to take our engagement photos. Location was super important to us, so we made sure to go back to our Alma Mater and take some pictures.

I'm so pleased with how they turned out! It was the perfect opportunity for us to interact with our photographer and see how we mesh with him. He made us totally at ease and helped us figure out where to stand and what to do.

Here are a few of our favorites!

Under the kissing tree

Now it's time to pick some for our save the dates! Things are getting very exciting around here! :)
